Welcome! I’m Karen Daniel, a singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee, now living in Raleigh, North Carolina. Thank you for visiting my website!
I’m known for my catchy, very singable songs for children (of all ages), including the Teachable, Singable and Jewish series.
I currently teach religious school at Beth Meyer Synagogue in Raleigh, NC. I also help lead services for young children and they enjoy some of my original songs. You can listen to some of my newest children’s songs on the album “More Teachable, Singable and Jewish Songs” wherever you stream music, including on Youtube, and buy the CD here.
This July, I will present a session at NewCAJE 17. I will be teaching new songs and twists to old songs that we use during Sunday morning tefillah! I have performed and taught at many NewCAJE and CAJE conferences over the years, and it is always an exciting, Jewishly invigorating experience!
You can listen to my song, “You Are the Shofar,” inspired by and lyrics co-written by well-known poet and storyteller Jennifer Rudick Zunikoff. We hope you will include this song in your high holiday teaching and services.

I also sing and write songs in the folk, bluegrass, spiritual and country genres. I recently acquired a beautiful Guild guitar, seen below. Because of my short stature and small hands, I love playing a smaller size instrument.

I have also started learning the mandolin, focusing on old time fiddle tunes, and also working on a few Jewish standards. You can hear me playing mandolin on my new album, “Nashville Road Trip.” All songs available on YouTube!
